Google has announced a new feature in its Gemini app called Timed Actions. The feature is designed to proactively manage tasks for users, making apps more personalized, proactive, and powerful.
Timed actions allow users to automate routine tasks or receive personalized updates directly from Gemini. The user simply instructs Gemini to perform a task at a specific time, or converts an existing prompt into a repetitive action. These actions can be managed at any time on the Scheduled Actions page in the app settings.
This new feature offers a variety of application scenarios. For example, users can wake up to a calendar summary and unread messages, or ask Gemini to generate five blog ideas every Monday. Users can also stay up-to-date on their favorite sports teams, or schedule one-off tasks such as requesting a summary of the event from Gemini the day after the awards ceremony.
The scheduled action feature is currently available to Gemini app users with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, as well as eligible Google Workspace Business and Education plan users.
